Part 2: Notable Incidents Around the World
In South Africa, a Dutch tourist suffered severe genital injuries when a Cape cobra struck while he used an outdoor restroom. The venomous attack made international headlines and highlighted the risks in some rural areas.
Similar incidents have also been reported elsewhere. In Australia, a carpet python bit a woman on the thigh after emerging from her toilet, while in Texas, reports have described a woman being bitten by a non-venomous rat snake after sitting down. Although these snakes were not all venomous, the encounters left victims shaken, and some required surgery or medical treatment.
Beyond the physical injuries, survivors may also experience lasting psychological effects, including anxiety about using bathrooms.
